Davies® Epoxy Primer Gray DV-92-61 is a high-performance, two-component epoxy-based primer formulated to provide exceptional adhesion, corrosion resistance, and surface sealing for a wide range of substrates, including concrete, metal, wood, and fiberglass. Designed for use as a basecoat under epoxy enamels and polyurethane topcoats, this primer delivers excellent chemical resistance and durability in both industrial and marine environments.

Ideal for demanding applications, Davies® Epoxy Primer penetrates porous surfaces, seals uneven substrates, and promotes strong bonding between the surface and the topcoat system—ensuring maximum coating performance and service life.

Application Guidelines

Surface Preparation:

Surface must be clean, dry, and free of grease, rust, oil, wax, and loose paint.

  • Metal surfaces: Degrease and sandblast or abrade to bare metal
  • Concrete surfaces: Allow new concrete to cure for at least 28 days; acid-etch or mechanically roughen for best results

Mixing Instructions:

Mix Part A (Base) and Part B (Hardener) in the prescribed ratio. Stir thoroughly until completely blended. Use only the amount that can be applied within its pot life (approx. 2–3 hours).

Application Methods:

Brush, roller, or spray

Thinning:

Thin with Davies® Epoxy Reducer if needed (typically 5–10%) depending on application method

Drying Time:

  • Touch Dry: 2–4 hours
  • Recoat: 8–12 hours
  • Full Cure: 5–7 days

Coverage:

8–10 square meters per liter per coat (depending on surface type and porosity)
