Application Guidelines

Surface Preparation:

Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, sanded, and free from wax, oil, or contaminants. If applying over stained wood, ensure stain is completely dry before varnishing.

Priming (Optional):

For best results, apply Davies® Powerfloor™ Sealer or compatible wood primer before topcoat.

Application Method:

Apply with brush, roller, or spray. Stir contents thoroughly before use. Avoid over-brushing to maintain smooth flow.

Thinning:

Use Davies® Polyurethane Reducer as needed (typically 5–10%) depending on application method.

Drying Time:

• Touch Dry: 1–2 hours
• Recoat: 6–8 hours
• Light Use: 24–48 hours
• Full Cure: 7 days

Sanding:

Sand lightly between coats with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 320–400 grit) to ensure smoothness and adhesion

Coverage:

12–15 square meters per liter per coat (varies with surface porosity and application method)

Finish Options:

• Gloss – Deep, mirror-like shine
• Satin – Soft, elegant sheen with minimal reflection

Color:

Clear (dries transparent); available in Gloss and Satin variants

Topcoat Compatibility:

Use as final topcoat over:

• Davies® Oil Wood Stain
• Davies® Wood Primers or Sealers

Not recommended for exterior use or damp environments without a proper moisture barrier.

• Flammable – keep away from sparks and open flames
• Use in well-ventilated areas or with proper PPE
• Avoid inhalation and skin contact
• Clean tools with Davies® Polyurethane Reducer immediately after use
• Store in a cool, dry place
• Keep out of reach of children
